Friday was a rough depressing day. After feeling great on Wednesday and Thursday I woke up Friday feeling run down. My big ambitions of getting to work early to prior to a CT Abdomen Scan at 10:30 faded. I faithfully made my scan appointment and returned home which used all the energy I had so I laid down to reenergize. Shortly my nap was interrupted by a call from the Transplant Coordinator nurse who said that Dr. Jalal a Hepatologist working with Dr. Stribling had notices some new spots on the CT scan I had just taken that he believed to be blood clots and ordered me back to the hospital to administer blood thinners.
The danger of blood clots moving around in your body is that one will land in your brain causing a stroke or your heart causing a heart attack, or in your lungs affecting lung function. Already in my lungs, Dr. Jalal did not want to risk me having permanent damage to the lungs or experience any other consequence.
This is all likely a result of the TACE for which the “E” stands for embolism whereby they try to block or clot the blood supply to the lesions. Looks like I was a little premature on declaring victory over the TACE.
Take it easy Ray! Are you out of the hospital? Maybe Jane can drive you to the cabin and leave you there for a few hours to chill out and relax.
