6/4 - Time heals most injuries

On Thursday AM, Jane, Rae and I had a consult with Dr. Kaseb.  With only new blood work to support any decisions he said that all looked to be stable from the last time we met and that he was OK with me having the hernia repair surgery.  Also, he supported Dr. OO's recommendation to discontinue the Lovenox blood thinners I was taking.   All good news.  Both Dr. Storey and Dr. Kaseb have stated that we could not start the IV Avastin chemo treatment until three weeks after the surgery.   Thus Dr. Kaseb charted a course to have me return in July and have new scans and bloodwork to set a new baseline to start the Avastin.  If everything is stable and the lesions have not changed, he would recommend to do nothing and wait on starting the Avastin.  I'm very happy with that approach.

Back to the injuries. My septum is getting better and less painful each day.  The sense of movement from plate to plate has subsided such that it now moves as one structure.  Because of the hernia I am now accepting the pain of coughing rather than trying to suppress it.  We will get a clear picture of the damage and healing when we get scans next month.   As for the hernia, they make a retainer belt for the purpose of holding things together that helps tremendously.  Only thing is that it is like the cruel shoes, not so comfortable to wear for long periods of time.   Also, it raises the level of bother to make a bathroom visit where I spend a large portion of my day in this condition.

So all and all, I am either holding or getting better.  Injuries are being managed and energy level is up.  Now I can look forward to the next indignation.  I don't have much fat or muscle mass to draw from and I'm sure this surgery will consume some of what I have left.   I need to be up, eating and exercising not flat on back and drugged.
