6/29 - Ohhh What a Night

Had another episode with cramping last night. Started in both feet and then climbed up my legs to my thighs. At 2 AM I had to call for Rae Nell to help. With Rae Nell rubbing one leg and Jane the other, they were able to release the cramp until I could get enough tonic and Vita water down to cause the whole thing to go away. Ouch, the is about the most painful thing I have ever been through. took a pain killer to help with the pain and get me through the night. Don't know what I would do without Jane and Rae helping me.

This morning I am nauseated dry heaving and loosing what meds I am trying to take. Catch 22, they gave me something for nausea control but I'm to nauseated to keep it down.

  2. Oh, Ray. I'm so sorry to hear this.

I don't know if you can take over-the-counter meds or not, but I found one that works well for when we get gastroenteritis around here. It's called Nauzene. I found it at Kroger. It's a chewable, which means you don't have to "keep it down" in the sense of taking a pill. It supposedly works within 4 minutes. Active ingredients are Dextrose (anti-nausea), Levulose (anti-nausea) and sodium citrate dihydrate (antacid).

But if you can't tolerate fructose, you can't use this product.

Just thought I'd suggest it, because dry heaves are no fun at all.

It's also possible that Vernor's Ginger Ale (also available at Kroger) might help. That works well for us, if sipped very cautiously. The bubbles will "get" you if you aren't careful, but we have found this to be an effective anti-nausea drink; it also helps rehydrate you.

I'm willing to go to the store and get either or both of these and bring them to you. Just have Jane or Rae let me or Fred know, and I'll go. HEB doesn't have Vernor's any more, just in case you're closer to them than to Kroger.

Prayers continue for all of you.

    Sue.

  3. Phenergen is an anti-nausea and is available in suppository form. Had to go that route when pregnant with Brett 16 years ago and struggling with morning (all day really!) sickness. JJ

  4. Oh, I shouldn't have mentioned my little problem with foot cramping. It may have started yours again. Hope they don't reappear.
