I have been delaying the bad news until I had all the evidence. On Tuesday of last week I had more severe cramping in my hands than usual. Later during the evening I developed a pain in my left leg. I thought it was due to cramping as well. On Wednesday the pain in my leg was still there and a little more intense than a cramp residual. I started worrying that the left leg pain was a thrombosis developing so I broke our the blood thinners and messaged the leg. Thursday was about the same but I had more cramping in my hands. I was hoping it would get better and I could make my trip to Canada leaving early morning Friday.
Well Friday I got up and i could not walk using my left leg at all. Thus we canceled the most immediate reservations and instead of Canada I went to the Emergency Room at SE Memorial fully expecting that I had a thrombosis and that I would be admitted to the Hospital for heavy blood thinners. Not a thrombosis. I was diagnosed with cellulitus and was sent home with antibiotics and instructions to keep my leg elevated as much as possible.
The antibiotics appear to helping as the swelling is abating and it is less painful to walk on my foot every day. Spent the weekend either sleeping or sitting in my easy chair. Fighting an infection causes more fatigue, loss of appetite, and loss of motivation. Everything I have been working to overcome.
Not very happy right now.
Sorry to hear about this new challenge. Good to see that the meds are working. Keep that leg up.

ReplyDeleteso sorry ray! but we can fight an infection. let's do that and then continue with baby steps toward living the best possible life under the circumstances.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get the update till today. I don't know why blogger doesn't update more frequently. SIGH.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Ray, I hope and pray that you're feeling better now. We have had some experience with cellulitis in our family, too. It is not a fun thing to deal with at all. Very painful, and by its very nature a fatiguing illness.
May God shower you with renewed strength of body, mind, and spirit.
Sue.
