1/1/11 - Greating a New Year

Well we executed all that we had scheduled for the Christmas New Year break.  First we went to central Texas to have Christmas with my Mom and Dad (see earlier post), then to Stephenville for a day trip to see Jane's Aunt Laura and Uncle Mac, Cousin Laurie and Husband Gary, Nephew Marshall and Niece Madiline.  Then on Tuesday we headed out to west Texas for a Barrington gathering at the WildCat Mountain Ranch. Stayed Wednesday and drove home on Thursday by way of Boerne to see Jane's Aunt Inez, Cousin Tana, Husband Rick and Niece Abby.   Was glad to get home early Friday morning for a full day of recovery before New Years Day.

All was well but the 9 hour trip home on Friday wore on me. When Jane and I were first married we honeymooned in San Antonio.  I have made jokes all these years that we stopped at every DQ between Houston and SA.  Well, on our return trip I think I stopped at every DQ and then some.  No more non stop trips.

All was great but I really enjoyed the time a the Wild Cat Ranch.  Whenever the family gets together we break out the hymnals and have a song session.  What a joy and a blessing.

Spent most of the rest of the weekend recovering, watching football from my easy chair.  I am coming to appreciate my dog Weebles. We compete for the spots where the sun shines through the window so we are always together.   My day consists of getting up, eating something, going for a walk, napping in the sun and starting all over again in the afternoon.   I'm living a dogs life.

Stayed home an played games with friends for new Years Eve and New Years Day.

  1. Sounds like a wonderful, blessed, busy, exhausting holiday schedule, Ray. But, you made it through!! that's a great accomplishment. What fun you must have had, singing and rejoicing with all your family around you at the ranch.

We didn't do much New Years Eve or day--all the football games were on cable TV, which we don't have, so Fred managed to set up a couple of them so he could watch them on the TV using the computer as the "feed" (it's technical, and I don't understand how it all works! LOL!). He was sort of happy. Our team lost, but so did UofM, so that helped a little.

Anyway, it's good to hear you did pretty well over the holidays, and here's hoping and praying that 2011 will see you completely healed and back to your normal self.

    Sue.
