11/8 - Results are In. Filled with good news.

Met with Dr. Kaseb this morning and got news of progress following radiation treatments and another month on Chemo.   First, the lesions have decreased in size about 25% from the previous exam on 8/26.  The lesion of most concern in the IVC has retracted to across the threshold of the heart right atrium.   Second, the thrombosis about this lesion has subsided somewhat meaning the blood thinners are working.  Third, the AFP marker continues to show improvement, now 19.6 vs last look at 71.8.  This indicates that the  tumors are not as active as before.  The AFP was at 1400 at one time, 5 is normal.  Forth, all other observations were updates on what we had been alerted before.

The conclusion indicates the radiation and chemo are effective in reducing and/or holding in check the lesions.  The lesions are still to big and spread enough to not be candidate for resection.

From here they are happy to leave me alone and take another full scan look in 2 months with a progress checkup in 1 month.   Also they are allowing me to scale back on the Chemo dose by 50% to help with the nausea and fatigue I am experiencing.

So I can look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas without being dragged down by continuing treatment. All in all a good report and a nice sunny day to go with it.
