3/28 - I'm Better About This Now

It's been a week since we were informed of two new lesions now resistant of the Nexavar treatment I have been taking.   So the doctor advised to stop the Nexavar and talk about other treatment options on April 4th.    In the meantime, while not a Nexavar, I am supposed to gain weight and get strong.

So I had a pretty good week without much trouble eating.  I weighed in last night at my new target weight 160 lbs   Some of this is water so it will have to continue to eat hardy to make it count.  Had some re-occurrence of the hand and leg cramps but no ER visit this time.

I'm somewhat concerned that the issues I dealt with at the beginning of this whole cancer trail have returned.  It's like starting the fight all over again.    I struggle against fatigue and weakness on a daily basis.  Even so I am  getting a lot done on the home front and don't slow down until late every day.  I wonder now what I could accomplish if I wasn't sick.

Here's a new one.   While I am trying to do weight training to regain strength and muscle mass I discover that I have a hernia.  I don't know if this is new or the fix made 20 or so years ago has come loose in light of my weight loss.   Either way the doctor advised that I don't lift anything heavy.   So how do I build upper body mass without lifting something heavy?

We (I) have got some things to look forward too so I will keep pressing ahead to stay as strong and healthy as possible.  My uncle Robert is coming Tuesday to watch the watch the NCAA tourney women's BB game between A&M and Baylor.   Cousin Troy and family will be coming here to see us the better part of next week.  Jane and I are going to Holland Michigan to see the Tulip festival in early May, and Jane, Rae, Kelly and I are are all going to Hawaii later in May.  On the Hawaiian trip we are going to spend almost three days on Oahu and then take the island hop cruise for seven days with Norwegian Cruse Lines.  I am down to planning activities (snorkel gear, surfboard rentals, cars for day trips, side tours, etc).  Can't wait to get started.

Thanks all for the concerns, prayers and words of encouragement.  It really does help to know that you are there for me.

  3. Hi Ray

God has victory for you! I have not and I am not walking in your shoes, but you have not and are not walking in mine. I can tell you this, the Lord has already fought this for you and has won the battle. You my friend are more then a conqueror! Meaning, the Lord fights the battle and you enjoy the benefits.

Like a stubborn mule, you just need to keep saying, I am healed by his strips. Even when a pain creeps up or the doctor has not so good news, keep saying, I am healed by his stripes. LET NOTHING, tell you other wise.

Life and death, is in the tongue. What you say is what you will be. So I say, today, Ray is healed in Jesus name, and we curse the cancer.

    We will continue to pray...

  4. You'll enjoy the Tulip Festival, Ray--Michigan is beautiful in May. Be sure to get over to Lake Michigan while you're there, but do NOT go down the 450-foot dune at Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore! LOL!

I'm excited to hear the plans you're making, and that despite the beast prowling around you, you're gaining strength and keeping hope. We pray for you and your family all the time.

    Sue.

  5. I don't think we could keep up with you if you weren't sick. Sounds like you are making some great plans for future travles. Maybe I should go along and carry your bags if you tire. Keep up the good fight and moving forward. I'm thankful that the Lord is with you and giving you strength. Love, Cathie
