Had a busy and productive weekend.
Started with a surprise early Christmas present as my water heater went out Friday morning. So Friday after work stopped by the Home Depot and picked up a new one. As they wanted $300+ to install it, I enlisted Rae Nells BF Kelly to help me. With a limited energy budget I used my engineering skills, ropes pulleys dolly, and some Kelly muscle to negotiate the new water heater up and old water heater down out of the attic. Two hours and we were done.
The water heater incident took me out of my plan to spend the night north of town in Conroe so I could visit the farm early Saturday. I had tentatively planned to pioneer on Saturday morning, go to the Friendswood HS state semi-final playoff game in College Station at 2pm and come back to Friendswood for a company Christmas party at 7pm. Jane, Rae and I did manage to meet my uncle Robert at Kyle Field in College Station for the game mid 1st quarter and got back to the Christmas party at 7:10 or so, just in time to get in the food line. Friendswood HS lost to the three time defending state champions, Lake Travis of Austin.
Sunday we finished up working on Christmas gift assembly, did some shopping and started a new project to custom build shelving in the closet for Janie.
Got another early Christmas present Sunday when my truck battery failed outright. It was getting weaker and weaker each time I moved today and I knew it needed replacing. Fortunately I made it to the auto parts store before it died. At the auto parts store I asked the clerk if they would like to help me install it. The guy was not interested in getting out in the cold to help so I went to take it home. No joy the old battery was done and didn't want to leave. So I went back in to borrow tools and installed the new battery in the parking lot.
Got home, unloaded the new shelf material and napped the rest of the day. Can't wait for Monday to get a rest. Almost like my old self. Tolerating digestive issues and pushing up against my energy boundary, otherwise I'm doing fine.
Ray, it was really nice to see you at the company Christmas party. You, Jane, and RaeNell all seemed to have a good time; I know I enjoyed the brief chat we were able to get in amongst the mobs of people (I remember when Draper Christmas parties were a lot smaller, and that was only 4 years ago! LOL!).
ReplyDeleteWe continue to pray daily that God will heal you, trusting in His wisdom.
